Students and Observers
Students or Observers following PHYSICIANS, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS, NURSE PRACTITIONERS, or CRNAs at ASPIRUS WAUSAU HOSPITAL or Aspirus Clinics should contact Jamie Sitko, Physician Recruitment at Jamie.Sitko@aspirus.org or 715-847-2996.
The approval process for students/observers following Physicians, PAs, NPs, or CRNAs at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and Aspirus Clinics is summarized below. Click here for the complete “Authorization of Medical Staff Students & Observers” policy.
Unless otherwise arranged, students/observers will contact the physician or allied health practitioner directly to make arrangements for the rotation or shadowing experience themselves. Once the student and physician/allied health practitioner have come to an agreement, the following items are to be submitted to Jamie:
1. Letter of good standing from the student’s school
2. Written documentation of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, Hepatitis B, and chicken pox as well as a PPD skin test result that is dated no earlier than 30 days before the first day of the rotation/shadowing experience.
3. Written approval from the physician that includes the date range of the rotation/shadowing experience. If rotating/shadowing an allied health provider, the approval letter is to come from that provider’s collaborative physician.
Once Jamie has received these three items, the student/observer’s file will be submitted for approval. Once approved, a confirmation packet will be sent to the student/observer including a Wisconsin Caregiver Background form, confidentiality form, and a quiz on HIPAA/fire safety/etc. to be completed and turned in prior to the start of the rotation/shadowing experience.
A brief hospital orientation with Jamie will be scheduled before any rotations/shadowing can take place in Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Although the turn-around-time on this process is often less than 30 days, we request a 30 day notice.
