CME - Continuing Medical Education at Aspirus
Aspirus Wausau Hospital CME Mission Statement
Purpose - The mission of Aspirus Wausau Hospital’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) program is to provide quality CME which develops, enhances, and maintains the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships of physicians.
Content Areas - The curriculum will include a range of primary care and specialty educational activities. Gaps will be identified in the learners’ current or potential scope of professional practice by conducting an annual survey, review of quality improvement issues and/or department/committee input. CME activities will be designed to advance knowledge and competence, continuously improve clinical skills and performance, and/or address professional behaviors related to the practice of medicine. Activities will be designed to improve the overall quality and safety of patient care while incorporating the desired physician attributes as defined by the ACGME and/or ABMS competencies.
Target Audience - The target audience of the CME program includes Aspirus Wausau Hospital Medical Staff members. We welcome and encourage residents to participate in educational activities. Regional physicians, allied health staff, and medical students will be included as appropriate.
Types of Activities - Multiple types of live CME courses will be offered including Regularly Scheduled Series, journal based, annual conferences, and/or regional conferences in a variety of formats.
As appropriate based on support of objectives and desired results, formats may include didactic lectures, concurrent and retrospective case reviews, review and discussion of journal articles, panel discussions, simulation, and/or hands-on learning.
Expected Results - The expected results of the education we provide are that our learners will:
report greater confidence in their ability to achieve the desired results of interventions expressed in the objectives;
demonstrate improvement in their ability to apply strategy to a practice situation using the knowledge gained as shown in analyses of evaluations and/or data collection; and/or
make a commitment to change their practice/behavior and/or apply newly acquired strategies as measured immediately after the activity, with some confirmation of those changes via a post-event evaluation; and/or show improvement of favorable impact on targeted performance and/or patient outcomes through quality and/or patient safety measures.
The results of these assessments will be analyzed to guide program changes and improvements.
