New Test for Fetal Lung Maturity
Aspirus Reference Lab (ARL) is now offering Lamellar Body Counts to help evaluate Fetal Lung Maturity. Lamellar bodies are phospholipid bodies that represent a storage form of surfactant. Counts over 50 K/cmm in amniotic fluid can suggest fetal lung maturity.
Required Specimen: amniotic fluid
SIM#: 331155
Fetal Lung Maturity evaluation by fluorescent polarization (surfactant to albumin ratio) has been discontinued by the manufacturer.
Please contact Dr. Edgar Betancourt, Pathologist at x72130 or Phill Oettinger, Chemistry/Immunology Technical Specialist at x53744 with any questions or concerns.
